It points to the Chamber's value proposition, which is by definition at the heart of all we do. In attempt to break it down, I've identified the four biggest things that I believe our community's non-member businesses are missing out on:
1. Community Influence and Advocacy: The Chamber provides an unmatched level of support and representation in the community. This means that if you, as a member, have questions regarding compliance with the city's sign ordinance, or concerns about a proposed tax increase, our Government Affairs Director Clint Burson is just a phone call away. He's also sitting in at the regular meetings of our elected officials, ensuring that the best interests of you, our business members, are represented, saving you time and energy while maintaining your relevance. We're also moving the needle on workforce challenges in our community, by cultivating collaboration in an attempt to strengthen our local economy on a big picture scale. By not joining the Chamber, many businesses are missing the opportunity to ensure their voice is at at the table.
2. Member Perks: There are many "perks" of membership that occur on a daily basis, often even going unnoticed. Our staff exclusively refer Chamber members to all visitors, locals, and of course, patronage for all of our Chamber programs. A lunch order here, and a gift card purchase there might not seem like very much, but added together over the course of the year truly does make an impact. Furthermore, the Chamber offers our members access to important relocation leads and information, ensuring that your business has the ability to connect with future Missoula residents. When added up together, it can be a powerful difference in a business' bottom line to miss out on these valuable, quality referral opportunities.
3. Marketing & Advertising: Sure, there are many ways to market and advertise your business. And indeed, the Chamber is not an advertising agency. But our program of work provides a great number of opportunities to get the word out about your business in a manner that directly speaks to the Missoula area business community. So the value of the Chamber's marketing channels are in the audience that our avenues enable you to reach. Business people do business with other business people. It's that simple!
4. Events & Networking: The Chamber is perhaps best known for our quality connection opportunities, including Business After Hours, networking groups, Missoula Young Professionals and Leadership Missoula. Sure, networking takes time, and not everyone feels it is right for them. But that's why we provide so many different ways to connect. Whether you prefer a small group that fosters deep connections over coffee on a weekly basis, or the larger room at BAH is more up your alley, the Chamber consistently provides our members with unmatched programming to broaden their client base and community connections. Furthermore, our programs such as Leadership Missoula and our weekly educational series provide quality, affordable development programs to support & strengthen our local workforce.
Do you know an area business that is missing out on these opportunities? A referral only serves to strengthen these connections, for you, and for the business community as a whole. Thank you for sharing!
